Join us in one of the most remarkable destinations in the world: Iceland. Known for friendly locals, stunning scenery and endless adventure.

Challenge yourself on terrain that is both beautiful and harsh. This is a looped course, so Sprint racers will run one lap, and Ultra racers will run as many as possible. One lap = approximately 6 miles.

The choice is yours: Which distance will you dare?

6 MILES (1 LAP)

30+ MILES / 24 HOURS

*Think you can keep pushing past 30 miles? Race for 24 hours and earn a coveted limited edition medal. The male and female warriors with the most miles will be crowned the Ultra World Champions.

6 MILES UNDER THE LIGHTS

SPRINT – 1 LAP/ 6 MILES / 20 OBSTACLES

Join the Ultra racers for 1 lap of the 6-mile course. Don’t be fooled, you will still get a grueling workout and endurance challenge in just 6 miles.

24 HOURS OF HEART AND GRIT

ULTRA – 30+ MILES / 120 OBSTACLES

To be an Official Ultra Finisher in Iceland and to receive your Ultra Finisher Belt Buckle and Finisher Shirt, you must complete at least 30 miles. However, the Ultra course is open for 24 hours, and you can keep racking up miles within that time frame.

KEEP PUSHING FOR 24 HOURS

If you are gritty enough to keep pushing, you have 24 hours to run as many laps as possible. The Iceland Ultra Champions will be the male and female warriors with the most miles racked up in the 24 hours. Everyone who meets the time requirements will receive an exclusive 24-Hour Ultra Finisher Medal and lifelong bragging rights.

A $100,000 CHALLENGE

Spartan Founder and CEO, Joe De Sena, has called out the ultimate challenge. If the Elite Ultra Winner can complete 100 miles of the looped course within the time limits, he or she will win a $100,000 bonus. In the event that the male and female winners both break the 100 mile mark, the $100,000 USD prize will be split evenly.
